Black Managers

Why are there so few black football managers?
Is the football establishment racist or is there another reason?

Why are there not enough world class black swimmers or white 100 metre sprinters, probably the same answer that there are not enough good one's currently. There shouldn't be this media agenda to boost their numbers just based on colour rather than actual ability. Gets off soapbox

There is no racism in selecting managers
There was way back in players - dont like the winter type of stereotype
Most UK footballers come from the working classes and educationally underperform - black WC moreso
In short they are just not up to it, Barnes/Ince or are not bright enough
That is of the current crop, in time as the high numbers of players percolate through coaching badges there will be more
The problem with managers is that it tends to be a recycling of existing faces, due to vested interest - as they die off a new wave of managers will emerge

It's a matter of time before clubs can only have all black short lists for manager vacancies.
Then it will turn to why no women managers.
Then why no gay managers.
But the reason there are no black managers can be summed up in 2 words- Paul Ince.

In time im sure they will emerge, its only about 25 odd years since England had its first black international in Viv Anderson, most African countries at the WC had white managers, as far as I can see its all about experience and in due course ex black players will make the step up, nothing what so ever to do with Racism IMO,we have even seen a few in the PL, Paul Ince and Chris Houghton for starters.

Keith Curle is mentioned as being one of the only black managers in the league, but he's not even black.

This is one of Oliver Holts favourite subjects and makes him look a bigger dick than any other subject he talks on, which is saying something considering he ghost wrote Lampards autobiography and his tongue is usually found up Warnocks bumhole.
He wants a rule in place where a certain amount of black managers get interviewed for each vacancy. It's pathetic. If a managers CV is good enough he'll get interviewed, if not he won't - surely recruiting on colour and not talent is not only racist in itself but also very demeaning to the black managers.
Maybe if more and more took their badges there would be more better ones to choose. Instead people like Paul Ince are mentioned when the fact is, he is t in a top job because he is black but because he is very shit.

The media make me smile on this racism thing
Seemingly that does not apply to Asians - their villification of the Cardiff owner and the bloke at Hull come to think, was borderline to say the least
And, funny enough, when good old football man, Malky was proven to be a wrongun on those very grounds, to say nothing of other potential 'issues', all very understated
Meanwhile, John Barnes, a natural born managerieal disaster, is only out of the the game because he is black....

Just black a few white managers up, I'm sure BFS won't mind looking like someone out of the black and white minstrels show.

Most high profile black players don't even bother trying to get into management. Les Ferdinand is the only one I can think of off the top of my head who's coaching.

maybe just maybe the majority of them don't make good managers, candidates or not that many actually want to be managers.

Re: Black Managers

The simple fact is that UK players in the main, can't string a sentence together - let alone be trusted to ront a multi million business with an even higher profile
That's irrespective of colour
It is a limited pool of talent to recruit from, with an even smaller number proportionately, of black players, to select from
Never saw a reluctance with foreign managers here - but then European players are sourced from a wider social spectrum

Powell and Hughton have the intelligence and are decent managers. Just because they are not managing in the premiership doesn't mean they are thick or useless. There are other former players who are doing a great job as assistants and backroom staff.
There probably is an element of racism in the boardroom either from old fashioned thinking or culturally with rich foreign owners. That said I also agree that not everyone has the intelligence and skills to become a good manager and that goes for both black and white players.

Shouldn't they also be concerned about the lack of ASIANS in football, or is it just about the blacks?

Also why are there so few black goalkeepers? That's racist as well. Every team should be made to have at least 1 black goalkeeper in their squad.
Oh wait, I know why there aren't any black goalkeepers. Because at the African cup of nations every goalkeeper is an utter car crash.

I agree with those two guys - top blokes aswell apparently
However, there are far more white ex managers fitting that profile equally currently unemployed
I dont get the, he is a good number two, coach etc so give him the big job attitude - they are clearly different roles requiring different skills - not everyone can cross that transition
Irrespective of colour

Hughton has a fantastic Championship record with Newcastle & Norwich I think. He is one who should have a job at that level at least
Fulham could do worse
